This 6 tatami -mat room is carved out from a larger room and enclosed by sliding shoji screens. At the far end of the room is an alcove for art and flower arrangements (tokonoma) and a storage cabinet. Shoji window screens under the storage cabinet can be opened for extra light. At the left is a porch (engawa) with a white cedar floor and sliding glass doors. When the 3'x 6 table is in use, the room becomes a dining room. When stored in a space beneath the tatami -mat floor, the room can be converted to a living room or guest room.
